Leading Resin Bound Driveway Specialists for the South

Tidey & Webb are the leading resin bound driveway specialists for the South of England We offer a range of residential surfacing options, but if you want a hard-wearing driveway that is visually striking, a resin driveway could be the answer.

What is resin bound surfacing?

Also known as a ‘stone carpet’, resin bound driveways offer an attractive, durable, and practical surfacing solution. The Tidey & Webb team will discuss colour options with you, before mixing aggregates with resin in a mixer. The mixture is then trowelled onto your prepared driveway, resulting in a smooth, flat finish that is also suitable for pathways and any other light traffic surfaces at your property.

Why choose a resin bound driveway?

If you love the finish of completed resin bound driveways, you will be pleased to know that it is not just aesthetically pleasing. Beyond their attractiveness, resin bound surfaces have the following benefits:

  • Fade resistant
  • Multiple colour blends
  • Permeable
  • Low maintenance
  • Slip resistant
  • Weed resistant
  • Frost resistant
  • Quick installation

Due to resin’s permeable quality, it is a SUDS compliant surfacing solution. This means you won’t be required to get planning permission prior to installation as there is no risk of water pollution or flooding.

Uses of resin bound gravel

Driveways are one of the most common areas for resin bound gravel use. However, any areas at your home with low traffic are suitable too. Access roads to your property would be eligible for resin bound gravel, as would courtyards, paths, patios, and pool surrounds.

Resin bound surfacing has an average life span of up to 25 years in low traffic areas. Being low maintenance, resin is the perfect residential surfacing solution, particularly if you want a beautiful driveway that is practical too.

Resin Bound Driveways FAQs

What is the difference between resin bound and resin bonded?

With a resin bound system, which is what we use at Tidey & Webb, resin and aggregate are mixed together and then trowelled into place. In contrast, resin bonded surfaces involve resin being laid first and loose stone scattered on top. Resin bonded surfaces are not as durable or long lasting as resin bound surfaces as the stone only adheres to the resin on one side. Loose stone and surface water are common complaints of resin bonded surfaces, which is why we use the resin bound method at Tidey & Webb.

The resin bound system is SUDS compliant. Your finished resin surface will be permeable, allowing water to seep through into the earth, which means water pollution and flooding are highly unlikely. Due to this, planning permission is not required as long as a suitable base or a soakaway is used.

Installing a resin bound driveway is weather dependent – we simply cannot lay resin in bad weather. However, if the weather is favourable we can lay some resin surfaces in a day. The size and design of your resin surface will dictate how long it takes and we will be able to give you a full estimate when you get a quote from us.

Whether you’re interested in a resin bound driveway, patio, pool surround, balcony – or any other surface – the cost will be dependent on a number of factors:

  • Size of the area
  • Shape of the area
  • The condition of the base prior to installation
  • The dried aggregates used
  • Any specific design requirements
