Biffa Waste Management site – Billingshurst, West Sussex

Tidey & Webb were asked by Biffa Waste Management in Billingshurst as a commercial surfacing job to create a tarmac ramp to prevent their users from tripping over the kerb.

• The ramp would need to reach the top of the kerb, so the shape was formed with 20mm binder course.
• As this would be used exclusively by pedestrians, we chose to use a 10mm surface course.

For surfaces that would have vehicles travelling over them, we would use thicker layers of surfacing and binder course, but for pedestrian footfall, this was the most economical and efficient use of materials.
